UPDATE ON RICK DRIVER (12-17-2025):

Many of you have inquired as to the status of our friend, Rick Driver.  Yes, we are missing him, too!

Rick continues to improve each day. Recovery is a little slower due to complications during surgery, but he is getting stronger. He and his family are so thankful for your many prayers and well wishes.

Earthquakes in South Carolina

“Earthquakes are probably the most frightening naturally occurring hazard encountered. Why? Earthquakes typically occur with little or no warning. There is no escape from an earthquake! While South Carolina is usually not known for earthquakes, ten to twenty earthquakes are recorded annually and two to five earthquakes are felt each year. These earthquakes tend to be less than magnitude 3.0 on the magnitude scale and cause little damage.”

FIRST RESPONDERS CHANGE APPROACH TO SPECIAL NEEDS IN AN EMERGENCY

Anderson, SC (5 January 2023) –  Anderson County Emergency Management is changing how they approach people with special needs in a life-threatening emergency.

The Special Needs Registry gives first responder details about a person, and their condition, at their fingertips before ever responding to an emergency.  Register yourself or someone you know with special needs by simply inputting their address, their disability and a few details about how best to interact with them.

“We can now provide critical information to our first responders, allowing them to respond with all the vital information they need while enroute,” Josh Hawkins, Emergency Management Director said. The information goes directly to dispatch so first responders are better equipped to help you and your family as they’re en route to your home.
